Magnetic Jewelry Frequently Asked Questions

What is magnetic therapy jewelry?

Magnetic therapy jewelry is jewelry that incorporates magnets into pieces such as bracelets, necklaces, anklets, rings, and earrings. Our pieces combine magnetic components with materials like magnetic hematite, gemstones, and glass beads, so you can wear something you genuinely enjoy while exploring the potential wellness benefits of magnetic jewelry.

People choose magnetic jewelry for different reasons. Some are interested in whether it may help ease discomfort, while others are drawn to it as a simple, non-invasive addition to their approach to overall well-being. Magnetic jewelry doesn't have the same effect for everyone, so I believe it's important to leave room for personal experience.

What are the wellness benefits of wearing magnetic jewelry?

When my husband first brought home a magnetic bracelet for me to try, I was dealing with discomfort in my ankles. I was curious enough to try it, and after wearing it, I noticed a difference in how I felt. That experience is what first made me want to learn more about magnetic jewelry and eventually led us to start Beads-N-Style.

People choose magnetic jewelry for different reasons, and everyone's experience can be different. Here are some of the reasons people are drawn to magnetic jewelry:

  • Could Help Ease Discomfort: This is the reason I first became interested in magnetic jewelry. I was looking for something that might help ease the pain I was experiencing, and that's when I discovered magnetic jewelry. Many people choose magnetic jewelry for this same reason, hoping it will help to ease their discomforts and allow them to focus more on the things they enjoy.
  • Supports a Sense of Overall Well-being and Vitality: When you're dealing with less discomfort, you'll find it easier to focus on the things you enjoy. Some people also choose magnetic jewelry simply as part of their approach to overall well-being.
  • Promotes Relaxation and Calm: Some people enjoy magnetic jewelry as part of a lifestyle that includes taking time to slow down, relax, and pay attention to how they feel.
  • Offers a Non-Invasive Approach to Wellness and Balance: Magnetic jewelry can be incorporated into your lifestyle without requiring a major change to how you live. For many people, it's simply another option they can explore as part of their approach to well-being.
  • Encourages mindfulness and self-care: Putting on a piece of magnetic jewelry can be a small reminder to pay attention to yourself and make time for the things that help you feel your best.

How does magnetic jewelry work?

Magnetic jewelry contains magnets that create a magnetic field around the piece. The important thing to understand is that we don't know that everyone will experience magnetic jewelry in exactly the same way, or that there is one simple explanation for why some people notice a difference and others don't.

If you're wearing magnetic jewelry because you hope it will help to ease your discomfort, placement matters. Magnetic jewelry is intended to be worn close to the area where you notice discomfort. For example, someone interested in a magnetic bracelet for wrist or hand discomfort would wear the bracelet on that wrist rather than somewhere else on the body.

People do report noticing differences in how they feel while wearing magnetic jewelry, including less discomfort or simply feeling more comfortable. My approach is to be honest about that experience without promising a particular result.

How strong are the magnets in your jewelry?

The magnetic strength varies depending on the piece. My jewelry uses quality magnetic components, including strong rare earth magnetic clasps and magnetic hematite beads. Depending on the style and size of the piece, the magnetic strength can range from several thousand gauss to much higher strengths.

While the magnetic strength of the jewelry is important, I don't believe choosing magnetic jewelry is only about magnet strength. I think the quality of the materials, how the jewelry is made, how comfortably it fits, and whether you'll actually enjoy wearing it matters too.

How should I wear my magnetic bracelet for best results?

If you're wearing a magnetic bracelet because you hope it may help ease discomfort, there are a few simple things I recommend keeping in mind. The goal isn't to follow a complicated routine. It's to wear your bracelet in a way that allows you to wear it comfortably and consistently.

  • Wear it consistently. Magnetic jewelry isn't something you put on only when you're experiencing discomfort. If you find that it helps ease your discomfort, consistent wear can help you stay ahead of the discomfort rather than waiting for it to return before putting your bracelet back on.
  • Find a comfortable fit. Your bracelet should fit comfortably against your wrist, not too tight and not so loose that it moves around constantly. A comfortable fit also helps keep the magnetic jewelry close to your skin.
  • Wear it close to the area where you feel discomfort. Magnetic jewelry is intended to be worn close to the area where you notice discomfort. For wrist or hand discomfort, that means wearing a magnetic bracelet on that wrist. For other areas, another type of magnetic jewelry may make more sense.
  • Consider your dominant hand. Some people prefer wearing their bracelet on their non-dominant wrist because it gets in the way less during activities. If your discomfort is on the other wrist, however, you may prefer to wear it there. Choose the option that works naturally for you.

Ultimately, the goal is to find a way of wearing your magnetic jewelry that feels comfortable and fits naturally into your lifestyle. You shouldn't have to spend your day thinking about your bracelet. Put it on, go about your life, and pay attention to whether you notice a difference over time.

Are there any side effects or precautions?

Your health and safety come first. Because magnets can interfere with some implanted medical devices, we recommend that anyone with a pacemaker, insulin pump, or other implanted electronic medical device avoid magnetic jewelry unless their healthcare provider says it is appropriate for them.

If you have any questions about whether magnetic jewelry is appropriate for you because of a medical condition, pregnancy, or a medical device, talk with  your doctor or healthcare provider before wearing it. Magnetic jewelry is not intended to replace medical care or prescribed treatment.

How long does it take to notice benefits?

There isn't a specific number of days when everyone will notice a difference. People can have very different experiences with magnetic jewelry. Some people tell me they notice a difference fairly quickly, while others take longer to decide whether magnetic jewelry is making a difference for them. I always recommend not making a decision about how it is working for you until after at least two weeks of regular, consistent wear.

Can I wear my magnetic jewelry in water?

We put a lot of care into choosing materials that are beautiful and durable, but I still recommend taking your magnetic jewelry off before swimming, showering, or exercising.

Repeated exposure to water, sweat, soaps, lotions, and other chemicals can affect the finish and appearance of the jewelry over time. Taking your jewelry off before those activities is a simple way to help keep your pieces looking their very best.

What makes your magnetic bracelets different from others?

When my husband and I started Beads-N-Style, we wanted to create magnetic jewelry that we would actually enjoy wearing ourselves. For us, that meant combining quality magnetic components with beautiful materials and designs that look like jewelry first.

Here are some of the things that are important to us when creating our magnetic jewelry:

  • Handcrafted with Care in the USA: Every piece is handcrafted here in the USA, with attention to the materials, design, and details that make each piece unique.
  • Strong Magnetic Components: We use strong magnetic clasps and magnetic hematite beads, with magnetic strength that varies from item to item. I want our jewelry to be well made and designed for steady, consistent wear.
  • Beautiful Materials: I love working with gemstones, glass beads, hematite, and other materials that make magnetic jewelry look and feel like jewelry you actually want to wear.
  • Easy-to-Use Magnetic Clasps: Our magnetic clasps make bracelets simple to put on and take off. That's especially helpful when hand or joint discomfort makes small clasps difficult to manage.
  • Plenty of Choices: Magnetic jewelry doesn't have to look a certain way. We offer different bead sizes, colors, gemstones, styles, and bracelet sizes so you can find something that fits your personal style.
  • Gift Ready: Every piece arrives in an organza gift bag, making it ready to give to someone special or simply a little nicer to open when it arrives for you.

Can I wear magnetic jewelry with other jewelry?

Of course! Magnetic jewelry is designed to look like other jewelry, so there's no reason you can't wear it alongside other pieces you already love. You can stack a magnetic bracelet with other bracelets or wear magnetic necklaces, rings, and earrings as part of your usual style.

One thing to keep in mind is your watch. Because the magnets in our jewelry are strong, I recommend wearing a magnetic bracelet on the opposite wrist from a watch to avoid any potential interference.

How do I choose the right size?

A comfortable fit is important because magnetic jewelry is meant to be worn consistently. You want your bracelet to sit comfortably against your wrist without being too tight or so loose that it moves around constantly.

To find your bracelet size, use a flexible measuring tape to measure snugly around your wrist. Then add about half an inch (0.5") to that measurement. Our bracelets are measured from end to end, including the clasp, and we offer a wide range of sizes from 6.0" to 13.0".

If you need a size that isn't listed, please contact us. I'm happy to work with you on a custom length when possible. The goal is to find a comfortable fit that makes it easy for you to wear your magnetic jewelry consistently.

What if I'm not satisfied with my magnetic bracelet?

I put a lot of care into every piece of magnetic jewelry I make, but I also understand that magnetic jewelry doesn't always have the same effect for everyone. If you're not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, please reach out to me. I want to hear your concerns and do what I can to make things right.

Are the wellness claims scientifically proven?

This is an important question, and I believe in being straightforward about the answer. People have used magnets in wellness practices for a very long time, and many people tell us they notice a difference in how they feel while wearing magnetic jewelry. My own experience is what first made me curious enough to explore magnetic jewelry for myself.

At the same time, scientific research has not established that magnetic jewelry will produce the same results for everyone, and there isn't one proven explanation for every experience people report. That's why I don't promise a particular outcome. Magnetic jewelry is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

I see magnetic jewelry as one option people can explore as part of a healthy lifestyle. If you're curious, give it a fair opportunity, wear it consistently, pay attention to how you feel, and decide based on your own experience.
